configuration management Questions

I am attempting to automate a checkout process of a large group of files using Serena PVCS Version Manager version 8.2.10 en_US (build 150). Each of these files' names are unique, and using the Filename pattern option doesnt allow us to selct the exact list of the multiple files we need to check out, there is nothing common about these.

Currently we have a project database with a project that contains over 2000 files each with an average of 5 to 10 revisions per file. In a few months time, my CM team will be getting requests to check out (then check in) of over 200 to 500 of these files (or more) for a major update of code that needs to happen.

Is there ANY way to use a script, for example, to check out all files that match a list of these files that correspond with a version label (or latest revision), then use this script to add a comment to this large list of checked out files as well?

I noticed there is a > Tool Configuration option under the Admin menu option. Can this let us check out and comment locked revisions en-masse, or is there another alternative??

If anyone can reply within the next few days, this will help us heaps of time at work, and save us having to check out hundreds of files, 10 to 20 files at a time and comment them manually. Please help! :(

As a long time user of Eclipse+SVN, we recently started using AccuRev as SCM tool. Prior to any commits (keeps) I generally switch to the Team Synchronizing perspective to check my changes. From there I then perform a keep operation.

Whilst this works fine for the first keep (from backed), any subsequents edits are differenced against the backed version, not latest kept.

I don't prompt that often, but do lots of keeps. Is it possible to change the behaviour of the Team Synchronizer?

Thanks,
Chris

I'd like to share with you my last article in which I’ll use a feat orchestrated by Julius Caesar two thousand years ago to illustrate what CM can provide us, in contrast with what technology allow us to do.

Happy to know your thoughts.

I have a build that outputs various configuration files, some which are very similar but differ based on the attributes of the component they support. Our current naming convention for the configuration files consist of identifying the attributes supported:

Config_Foo_attr1.xml, Config_Foo_attr1_attr2.xml

As our attribute options grow so will the file names. Has anyone else dealt with something similar to this issue?

I'm trying to find an alternative to the option being proposed by those outside of CM. They would like the configuration files to be generated on the fly by a tool based on an operator's input during the download of the component.

Thanks,

Anyone tried to run SQL to remove the -b [broker] parm from a hexecp?

hexecp -b [broker]

We have over a thousand of these in Harvest 12.0 and they are not allowed in 12.1. (Oracle DB)

Just trying to find out if anyone else is having as much fun as I am.

I'm looking for an opensource web application with some basic features:
- integration with a SVN/CVS/GIT existing repository
- deployment to hosts after building

The tools i've found so far is either lacking some features or not graphical. I'm ok with a more complex solution too as long as everything is web based and graphical.

Any tip? Ty in advance.

I am looking for articles or information about importance of performing Configuration Audit for a presentation to development team.

We normally conduct Configuration Audit before a release of Product and also we conduct quaterly audits to make sure that previously released products are recreatable. As this is the requirement of CMMI.

i would like to install CCRC client on MAC OS and access my vobs which are in Unix.

How do i start? Do we get the CCRC installable for MAC OS? IF yes, where can i find it? If it has to be from Eclipse, then can anyone guide me?

I have an integration prep project setup with 4 sub-projects. One of the projects is now being displayed as the red exclamation mark.

I can see and update the sub project seperately, but it doesnt seem to be included in the overall project heirarchy, even though the BM project Grouping shows it as still being part of the same group it was before.

Any ideas on how I can get everything back to how it should be?

I have a machine behind a firewall I wish to connect to our Synergy server (6.4).

Which ports do I need to have punched open to allow this ?

I so far have :-

flexlm standard port
5412 - router
8830 - esd
objreg - ?? this has a different value on 2 different servers when checking with ccm monitor

Is there also any way of changing these port values or are they hardcoded?

Thanks
