New synergy 7.1 db created for testing, we created custom Process and Process rules based on Synergy's default Process/Process rules (valid and working in other production databases). Now, if I want to create a new project, then I am not able to select any purpose (It shows blank), the message displayed is "No valid purposes for this release", but when I find Process/Process rules, everything is displayed correctly. Even in the Releases, the purposes are correctly set and visible. The problem occurs when I try to create the project.
I assume you are using the Synergy GUI and not the deprecated class client.
Have you tried View...Refresh choices?
If the changes to the release and/or process rules were made in another client and you had a Synergy GUI running, it may have cached information about the release and its available process rules. The "Refresh choices" action will re-fetch the latest data such as releases and their purposes.
Best regards,
David.
Hey David,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The purpose tables and reconfigure templates were created in Classic Client, and processes were created in GUI, the choices were refreshed and the GUI was even restarted (with machine restart as well), the purposes can easily be selected while creating a new release (new project can easily be created and worked upon), but when checkout (copy project or baseline creation) of an existing project (which was transferred via DCM) is done, it says no valid purposes for this release, thus hampering my work on the transferred project.

The next thing I would check is that the process rules exist and are used by the release. You can do this in the Synergy GUI. In the explorer pane on the LHS, select the "Releases" tab, and select your release and use the context menu "Properties". You should see a dialog "Properties for Release X" where X is the release you selected. Look at the "Process Rules" tab and check that the purpose "Custom Development" has a checkbox with a tick and is associated with a process rule "X:Custom Development". You should also check that the project you are copying is set to update by process rules.
Hope that helps,
David.
Hi David
No, the purposes are not associated with the release :-(, also i am not able to add them via GUI client(Classic and Java), is it possible to add the purposes via DCM or command line? If yes, then how?
Thanks again for your answer :-)
