When we connect to the TT server we will have a tab Groups and if we select any of the group a window will be opened and we see lot number of tabs (System, Folder, Item, Field,Attach, Note, report and Table).
Can i get a detail document on those tabs (System, Folder, Item, Field,Attach, Note, report and Table) and on each fields
I do a lot of estimations for projects involving configuration management and data management. One of the requirements these days is that you make estimates based on historical actuals or metrics derived from same.
Unfortunately, I have yet to find a highly correlatable metric that will definitively provide an estimate that will result in a fairly accurate bid (when compared to the conclusion of execution). I recognize that such things are highly variable, and a lot of items can impact getting a good metric.
Nowadays many large companies have outsourced their development to offshore. Almost all large organizations I've worked with has a large number of developers in India. One common issue is how to let them access to our SCM system?
Many use VPN, but have concerns, because these developers has nothing to do with our organization, e.g. we outsource to IBM, IBM gives it to India, and so on. There are concerns to let these developers come into our WAN/LAN directly from VPN.
We are having 20 named licenses and usually we run out of them, our company does not want to purchase more licenses, so is there any command to clear named licenses from license manager. I want to write a small script for the same.

I am using Synergy 7.1 client. I have set the value "save_to_wastebasket = FALSE" inside ccm.ini file. The path for ccm.ini file is C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\Synergy\7.1\etc\ccm.ini.
But, even after these changes, the _moved directory size is increasing.
Can you suggest what additional needs to done ?
I recently installed the Synergy CM 7.1.0.6 and Interim Fix included several bugfix. However, after installation when I try to launch my classic client, I recieves warning messages on missing cache. Something like this:-
"Warning: Missing cache file for object 'xyz.inc~2:UNKNOWN:db#1':<ccm_path>"
Can you tell me what might have gone wrong ? Is it the patch installation ?
We currently have Software Change Manager R12 (formerly Harvest). My users have experienced this error:
E03020054: The package named WB-DLAP00291371 is being used by Checkin. Client: /pt_HClient://COL1SCV55/7564 Server: /pt_HServer://s1x031/19689.
After researching is there a way to kill the Checkin process in the newest version? Application is runned on UNIX database?
I would like to know about your experience with the co-location of Agile and SCM practices in your organization.

Checking-in objects (around 1000 or may be more) has become painful now. It takes at least 3-4 hours; ideally, it shouldn’t take more than one hour as compared to other synergy location.
The problem is version handlings in our database which creates long versions and to manage versions for so many objects I have to take back-ups, remove folders from directory and create completely new object versions which are really time consuming processes.

I am sharing a case on cm synergy, and would like to understand its impact on the configuration.
Scenario:

Slave Database ID:slv
New synergy 7.1 db created for testing, we created custom Process and Process rules based on Synergy's default Process/Process rules (valid and working in other production databases). Now, if I want to create a new project, then I am not able to select any purpose (It shows blank), the message displayed is "No valid purposes for this release", but when I find Process/Process rules, everything is displayed correctly. Even in the Releases, the purposes are correctly set and visible. The problem occurs when I try to create the project.
We have an environment made of of Web Servers (Windows 2003). We use something called "provisioning" to populate a farm of web servers that are used by the customer/user.
In my promotion process, we have the normal types of environments we are all used to have: development, QA (testing environment), and a production environment... with some others environments like a training environment and a production (duplicate) environment... (plus of course, a backup environment. All the latter environments are (and should be) equaled to production.
The cost of Rational ClearCase licensing combined with the complexities of UCM and MultiSite have forced us to look at alternative tools. We have five locations over 3 continents with a mix of UCM, base ClearCase, and MultiSite implementations. Through discussions with CM folks at our sibling subsidiary companies we have narrowed the options to SVN or Perforce.
Could somebody please give their opinions on how these tools stack up against ClearCase?
I was after some feedback on how far the CMDB concept has been adopted in the earlier stages of the product/system/programe/project lifecycle, i.e. between the initial Bid Stage, through Requirements, Analysis, Design, Development, Integration, Test, to say into a definitive media library (DML or DSL) prior to delivery to the Operational environment.
I would like to know whether there are any organisations out there trying to implement this and if so on which tools and perhaps how far/well this has been achieved.
I have performance problem with ClearCase over VPN.
I don't see problem with dynamic views on AIX. However, rebase/deliver for snapshot views on windows over VPN is extremely slow.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone's having the same issue and what are the solution.
Currently we are using cleracase version 8.
I am getting a network connection lost error during the rebase for windows snapshot view. It resumed and said rebase completed.
However, there some files were not updated with the latest change. When the developer try to rebase recommended again, it says currently it's up-to-date.
How to bring the lost changes or force rebase again?
We have an issue with the endevor package promotion process. When more than 2 packages are promoted at the same time, we get file contentions for the component libraries. Is there a installation setting that needs to change to overcome this problem ?
We are doing some process implementation and improvement. There is some debate about whether to associate a checkout of a source file in our repository to Defect Reports (DR) and Change Requests (CR) on checkout of source code, or on the checkin.
I've only worked with association at checkout, so we get visibility into ongoing work, but I wanted to get a feel for what others say about one way or the other.
